Airdrops are arguably the most common marketing tactic in the NFT space. Getting an airdrop means getting your hands on a collection without spending all that much. However, you may have to fulfill certain conditions at times to be able to participate in some kinds of airdrops. In this article, we’ll explore the various kinds of airdrops and how they function.
Standard Airdrop
A standard airdrop is when a certain amount of cryptocurrency is sent to you for almost free. It is open for everyone to participate in and has a limited supply and time duration.
Bounty Airdrop
A bounty airdrop requires you to complete specific tasks to get rewarded. The tasks include signing up for the project or its newsletter, posting on social media about the project and tagging other users in the post, joining and participating in the Discord/Telegram channels, etc.
Exclusive Airdrop
An exclusive airdrop is available only for the loyal community members of a particular crypto project. For example, the creators could make the airdrop exclusive for the holders of their other project as seen in the screenshot below.
Raffle Airdrop
In a raffle airdrop, the rewards are given to wallets based on a lottery-like system or a raffle. Some projects may also require users to perform certain tasks to earn a raffle ticket, such as holding tokens, making social media posts, etc. Once the airdrop goes live, winners are selected randomly from raffle ticket holders.
Holder Airdrop
These airdrops are designed as a goodwill gesture to increase user loyalty and engagement. For example, a project could distribute free tokens to all existing NFT holders based on the amount they hold. The more users have, the more free tokens they may stand to receive.
And that’s all the types of airdrops you’ll come across. You can now begin to navigate through the various drops and decide what’s worth it for you. There is always some sort of airdrop out there, waiting to be claimed. However, make sure you always do your research before engaging with any project to avoid rugpulls.
