As of 31st March 2025, Crypto Twitter has raised over ~$1,250,000 for Gaza in 1 year. ~$600,000+ of that in the last month.

Some backstory:

My name is Loopify. I am a pseudonymous individual that gained a following in the last few years on Twitter/X within the Crypto industry. In that time period I also made a lot of money. After Israel began the biggest recent onslaught on Gaza, it was the first time in my life that I stopped and thought about life deeply: What is the point of all this grind if I am helpless when my brothers and sisters are being blown to pieces and the world moves on like nothing is happening?

I’ve always given charity, as a Muslim every year we give 2.5% of our entire wealth to the poor and needy. But when giving charity I don't think most people ever get a chance to see the impact, especially with larger ones. That the money is going where you want it to go. And seeing the evidence yourself. And you have to be especially careful in a situation where a mistake could label you as a criminal for “funding terrorist activities” and ruin your life forever.

After looking around, researching, asking, donating to individual charities people setup—I stumbled upon 34 year-old charity Human Appeal.

Human Appeal is a non-profit organization working across the globe to strengthen humanity’s fight against poverty, social injustice and natural disaster. They’ve been delivering humanitarian aid on the ground in Palestine since 1991, this gives them the expertise to navigate through the challenges, source aid supplies locally when needed, and deliver critical aid where it is needed most. Just one of the channels they use to get aid into Gaza is via the JHCO NGO that was created in line with directives of the Jordanian Royal family. Human Appeal working with JHCO have been able to transport humanitarian aid from Jordan by air and land to Gaza. For example, check out this trip I did to Jordan, where I got to see first hand a lot of the tremendous effort and process involved.

After speaking with the team and personally donating, I encouraged them to setup Crypto rails, as I know how many people within the industry struggle to offboard but want to donate — and generally the ease of sending a charity donation through (especially in large amounts). I started a public fundraiser for this cause in 2024, for the first time putting my brand behind a philanthropy cause; putting my reputation at the forefront allowed me to garner attention quickly. I handle the fundraising while Human Appeal take care of all the logistics.

It’s been less than a year since raising and simply posting primarily on X with a link to a few Crypto addresses (ETH and BTC) and we’ve now raised over $1,250,000. It’s hard to put into words how unbelievable this is. I've thanked everyone countlessly but the best way to showcase is to witness the impact it has on the families it supports. I will keep sharing so you understand how you are helping these vulnerable families.

Returning to the point I mentioned at the start of the article, we are very focused on providing updates and facts about where donations go, so you can see for yourself. From the date, aid and location of every distribution and then final reports after several waves. This was our first report, where in total we gave out 34,000 hot meals,169 food parcels and 2,985,000 liters of clean water.

I've now created a site where you can easily track all of it. The money raised, the number of people who contributed; the distribution details. The previous banners had my logo on it to but going forward will be replaced with this domain. The donors deserve the most thanks, I am simply a contributor.

There are various reasons why I wanted to write this article, one being every post that I've shared leads to more donations at an insane conversion rate because of the ease of sending a transaction through, another is to bring more attention to the situation in Gaza; last but not least to speak about how there is a lot of good in Crypto within the bad. Within a free market that is rife of scams and bad morals, we shouldn’t generalize all participants, I hope this story is one example that makes it clear.
