Blast, an Ethereum Layer 2 network, recently announced its upcoming airdrop scheduled for June 26th. This announcement, shared on Blast's social media account, explained that the distribution share for the airdrop has been increased due to a slight delay from the initially proposed date in May.
In addition to the airdrop, Blast revealed its plans to conduct the final two Gold Distribution activities before the airdrop (3 gold distributions have already taken place). These distributions are designed to allocate gold and points to decentralized applications (dApps), aiming to encourage broader participation and engagement within the network.
The airdrop itself will see 50% of the token allocation distributed to builders on blast via Blast Gold and points. The remaining 50% will be distributed to early users and individuals who transferred their assets to the network before its mainnet launch. These users collectively transferred approximately $2.3 billion USD, anticipating points for the upcoming airdrop.
The impact
As a result of the Blast airdrop delay, Blur has decided to extend its Season 3 campaign, originally set to conclude soon, until June 26th. In the lead-up to the highly anticipated TGE, many tokens and NFTs on Blast have experienced a decline in value, as the incentive to hold them has declined as of recent.
Following today's announcement, tokens on Blast started to see an upward repricing trend, as farmers began accumulating more tokens to upgrade their jackpot decks. However, there hasn't been significant activity observed yet for Blast NFTs, leaving uncertainty about whether they will attract bids as strongly as the tokens.
Blast's upcoming airdrop scheduled for June 26th, along with the increased distribution share, marks an important milestone for the platform. While tokens on Blast have shown signs of rebounding post-announcement, the future trajectory of Blast NFTs remains uncertain. Nonetheless, these developments signify a period of even more growth and activity within the Blast ecosystem.
