Heroes and Weapons are essential if you want to play Onchain Heroes S2.
Without Heroes, you simply cannot play the game.
Without Weapons, you cannot take part in dungeon battles and boss fights.

In this article, we’ll explain the importance of Heroes and Weapons in OCH S2.
Let’s dive in!

Heroes

Heroes are your core playable characters in Onchain Heroes.
You’ll need one to do anything in-game.
Genesis Heroes are ERC-721 NFTs that were minted on Abstract Mainnet.
And while they all look different, rarity is purely cosmetic (no influence on stats/performance).

Hero Traits & Stats

Heroes in S2 are defined by two key gameplay metrics:
1. Character Level
  • Starts at Level 1, maxes out at Level 69
  • Leveling up boosts Hero’s strength and damage output
  • Progression achieved via training: Train your hero in The Gym using $HERO
2. Base Damage
  • Base Damage Formula: Hero Level × Weapon Coefficient
  • The Weapon Coefficient is based on rarity/type of your equipped weapon
  • Higher base damage = better rewards from battles

Loadouts

Season 2 introduces Loadouts.
Players can customise and power up heroes by equipping specialised gear.
There are six equipment slots available:

Weapons are key here, directly affecting your Base Damage and overall performance.

The Gym

The Gym returns in S2: Train your heroes to level up and unlock more power.
Training costs $HERO and comes with a 24h cooldown between sessions.
There are 3 trainer types:
  • Normal Trainer: Always +1 level guaranteed
  • Chaos Trainer: Risky. Can go from -5 to +5 levels (odds shift over time)
  • Unknown Trainer: Total Wildcard. Results range from -1 to +3. Chaos incarnate.

Level-Up Formula:
$HERO cost to level up = (Level × 10,000) / (69 + Level)
Example: Going from level 10 → 11 costs 1265.82 $HERO

How can you get Heroes?

Heroes can be purchased on major marketplaces like OpenSea and Magic Eden.
They live on the Abstract Chain, and currently come at a price of around 0.16 ETH

Weapons

Weapons are essential for battle in Onchain Heroes — and you’ll need one to fight Dragma or run dungeons, and they’re a big factor in how much $HERO you earn.

Overview:
  • Required for all combat (dungeons, boss fights)
  • Define your Hero’s damage output, directly impacting $HERO rewards
  • ERC-721 NFTs on Abstract Mainnet
  • Come in different rarities with gameplay effects

Weapon Traits & Stats

Weapons are defined by 3 main traits:
Rarity & Weapon Coefficient
  • Rarity influences your Weapon Coefficient, which multiplies your Hero’s level to determine Base Damage Output
Sharpness
  • Impacts the amount of $HERO you earn in battles
  • Decreases by 1 point when the Hero wielding the weapon is unstaked
  • Can be fully restored at The Blacksmith using $HERO (more on The Blacksmith later)
Durability
  • Doesn’t affect damage, but if it hits 0, the weapon becomes unusable until fixed
  • Also drops by 1 point when the Hero wielding the weapon is unstaked
  • Repairable at The Blacksmith

The Blacksmith

Players can visit The Blacksmith to:
  • Restore Sharpness
  • Repair Durability

See the chart below for a breakdown of the cost and effect of “sharpen” and “repair”:

It’s simple. The Blacksmith helps you keep your gear in shape to stay battle-ready.

⚠️
Disclaimer: Both Sharpening and Repairing cost scale with time and rarity, encouraging early and strategic upgrades.

The Gacha Zone

The Gacha Zone is the gateway to stronger weapons.

In S2, the Gacha Zone is split into three key sections:
  • Weapons Gacha
  • Weapons Remixer
  • Weapons Vending Machine
Let’s break ‘em down.

Weapons Gacha

Here you can use Gacha Tokens (Bronze → Rainbow) to pull random weapons.

Higher-tier tokens yield better odds for rare weapons (see the table below)

Mythic weapons are NOT available through Gacha (hence the 0% chances shown above).
They can only be created via the Weapon Remixer.
Speaking of which…

Weapons Remixer

Fuse multiple weapons into a single, more powerful one.
This is the only way to create Mythic weapons.

How it works:
  • Costs $HERO (based on rarity and time into the season)
  • More input weapons = better upgrade odds
  • Always guarantees a weapon of same or higher tier
  • Cost Formula: (((daysSinceS2 * 240) / (20 + daysSinceS2)) + 100) * weaponRarityCoefficient

Weapons Vending Machine

Here you spend $HERO to mint fresh weapons (Common, Uncommon, Rare).
